Concrete Poetry

I saw a bird once made of words on a page. I was fascinated by it when I was young. I still am fascinated.
I love the look of concrete poetry. The combination of an image and words raises it above a poem. It is a visual piece to enhance the poem or stand on its own.

If you haven't noticed, I have never posted a concrete poem here. I have never had much luck with formatting. I can barely format my own "normal" poems without error. Maybe it has to do with my inability to even draw stick figures. Or maybe it isn't for everyone.
Have you ever tried a concrete poem? If so, how did it turn out?

I would have to say it is one of the more demanding poetic forms. What do you consider a demanding form?

Let me know your thoughts!

P.S. I updated my "Announcements" page and am still looking for poems/guest posts!

  1. Hi Jennifer! I saw your kind comment at Poetic Bloomings. Thank you!

Very nice site you have here! Like you, I am not good with concrete poetry, yet it fascinates me. Walt Wojtanik is very talented at it. I think maybe you have to have an artistic touch and loads of patience. ;)

    Take care, and keep writing!

  4. Jennifer- You have a lovely blog! Cocncrete poetry is challenging and takes practice. Start with something simple like an explanation mark and then go from there.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!
