The Wonders of Childhood (Try this)

Find a younger child in your family and play pretend for awhile.  Follow his/her thought process.  Children are still allowed to have imaginations run free and can teach a writer much.

You can also ask them to explain how something complex (like a certain machine or human interaction) works.  You'd be surprised at the insight.  Plus, it can help you write young protagonists better!
